I was intrigued by the exceptionally low prices that Go Daddy offers to register domains. Up until their superbowl ad I really hadn't heard of them. But, at only $9.00 a domain I figured they were something I had to check out.
The first thing I did was take a look at the full Go Daddy Superbowl Ad
After watching the ad, I can say: a) Given the puritans who control the FCC I understand why this didn't make the air, b) the ad is overtly sexist, c) it still hard to not see the tiny bit of ironic humor in the ad.
For $30 I was able to register four domains and establish one commercial (250 outgoing smtp messages a day) email address. What has most impressed me is the Go Daddy customer service. In this age of "please press or say the number "x" to get to our automated help system" I was amazed when I received an unsolicited can we help you phone call from a real human being.
My guess it that most of the Go Daddy users aren't that technically sophisticated. While the individual who contacted me was polite it was clear that he was used to dealing with individuals who didn't understand what a domain was or what they could/should do with them.
Go Daddy earns an early 10/10 from the Blog Ranger. Stay tuned for more.
